Vitiligo is a long-term skin condition that causes loss of skin color in patches. It occurs when melanocytes (the cells responsible for producing melanin, which gives skin its color) are destroyed or stop functioning properly.

As a result, white or light patches appear on different parts of the body, including:

• Face
• Hands and arms
• Legs and feet
• Lips
• Around the eyes
